RENNIE, George
April 13th, 1920, Ardersier, Scotland – July 1st, 2011, Edmonton, Alberta
Mr. George Rennie of Edmonton, Alberta and formerly of Edson, Alberta passed away at the age of 91 years having lost a courageous battle with cancer.
George was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle who provided for his family regardless of everyday struggles. He worked as a farmer, construction worker and a handy man.
He met Margaret Wyandy while she was working in a camp as a cook. George and Margaret were married on February 14th, 1959 and raised two son, Allan and Barry.
George was predeceased by Margaret in 2006 and is survived by his sons Allan and Barry and their families as well as his sister Cathy of Vegreville, Alberta, brothers Grant of Kelowna, BC and Gordon of Vegreville and Roy of Calgary, Alberta.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services took place on Saturday, July 9th, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Foothills Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Findlay officiating and interment followed in Ranfurly, Alberta on Monday, July11th, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of other tributes, donations if desired may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, Alberta – T2E 2P5 or the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, 1H1.19 Walter Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre, 8440 – 112 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta – T6G 2B7  in memory of George Rennie.
